Lincolnville Comprehensive Plan: Overview |
||||
| Lincolnville's population and housing stock has grown dramatically during the past 20 years. Despite this growth, the town has retained much of its rural character. As we move toward the 21st century, the goals and implementation strategies suggested in this plan will help ensure that Lincolnville will continue to remain a desirable place to live and work.
INVENTORIES Each of the thirteen inventories outlined in this plan contains a wealth of information about our community. This information was gleaned from a variety of sources: departments of state government, the U.S. Census Bureau, town office records and the input of many Lincolnville citizens. The information collected was then strained and sifted, drafted and redrafted to the form you see on these pages. Issues raised in each inventory section were discussed at a number of public meetings. GOALS AND IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES: The goals and implemen-tation strategies were developed through a lengthy process involving much of the community. Using the inventories, comprehensive plan survey and maps, the Comprehensive Plan Committee solicited suggestions from a variety of individuals and groups. This collective input formed the basis for these goals and implementation strategies.
LAND USE: The Existing Land Use Inventory describes Lincolnville’s historical land use patterns and identifies the current uses of land in Lincolnville. The Future Land Use Plan is a vision for how Lincolnville should grow in the years ahead. SUMMARY OF SURVEY RESULTS: This section summarizes the results of the Growth Management Survey. The full survey results were published in the 1989 town report. SUMMARY OF MAPPING PROCESS: A series of computer-aided and hand-drawn maps were completed as part of the comprehensive planning process. This section will summarize the purpose of each map. EPILOGUE: Where we go from here. |
