Animal Control

The Animal Control Officer, appointed by the Select Board, is responsible for domestic animal issues as governed by State statute and local ordinances.

The Maine Warden Service should be contacted for wild animal issues (1-800-452-4664).

When do dogs need to be licensed?

All dogs need to be licensed upon reaching the age of 6 months in the town where it resides or within 10 days of moving into town.

Current proof of rabies vaccination is required to license a dog.  Bring proof of spay / neuter if applicable.

Dog licenses are due by December 31st of each year.  There is a grace period through January 31st.  If a dog has not been registered by February 1st a state mandated late fee will be assessed.  The late fee is $25.

Fees:

$6 if a dog is spayed / neutered

$11 if dog is unaltered
