Lincolnville's Town Clerk is appointed by the Board of Selectmen. As custodian of the Town's official documents, the Town Clerk prepares, maintains, and archives vital records (births, deaths, and marriages), town meeting warrants and results, ordinances and policies, and a host of other documents. The Town Clerk also supervises elections, issues numerous licenses and permits (dog licenses, hunting/fishing licenses, etc.), administers oaths of office, and maintains terms of office for boards/committees/commissions.
Lincolnville's Registrar of Voters is appointed by the Board of Selectmen and is the "municipal official who has the exclusive power, subject only to appeal, to determine whether an applicant is eligible to register to vote, and, once registered, whether a person is qualified to continue to vote in the municipality of registration. The registrar is also the only official charged with maintenance of the voter registration list." (Excerpt from Maine Municipal Association's Town Meetings & Elections Manual)
