The Town has engaged the firm of RJD Appraisal of Pittsfield, Maine to perform a full revaluation of all properties throughout the town. In the coming months, employees of RJD Appraisal will visit every property within the town. Each employee for RJD Appraisal will have photo identification and will have a magnetic sign affixed to their vehicle.
The purpose of the site visit is to obtain interior and exterior information for tax assessment purposes. Building data will include age, dimensions, quality of construction, etc. Land data will also be collected and include such items as acreage, topography, improvements, etc. Property owners have the right to deny entrance. However, in the inspection process, the more information made available, the more fair and accurate your assessment will be.
In the spring of 2025, RJD Appraisals will be mailing out notices to property owners that show the new assessment. After receiving the notices, property owners will have an opportunity to meet one on one with RJD Appraisals about the assessment.
The new assessments will be used as part of the August 2025 tax commitment.
